On the reverse: The Bulgarian Lion rampant
with a shield in the colors of Saxony.
Circumscribed "БЪЛГАРСКО ЦАРСТВО"
(Bulgarian Kingdom).

The medal was established by King Ferdinand
in 1909 to commemorate the proclamation of
the independent Bulgarian Kingdom at Trnovo,
the medieval capital of Bulgaria, on 22 Sep.
1908. It was awarded to officers and veterans
of the Bulgarian army and to state officials.
This is a rarely seen example on bow for
female recipients.
