FRANCE: National Order of the Legion of 
Honor, Knight's Cross, of the 3rd French 
Republic (1870-1951).
The Order was established by Napoleon 
Bonaparte in 1802 and is awarded to both 
French and foreign citizens for outstanding 
civil or military services to France. 
The Order of Honor represents the highest 
national decoration of France.
This is a WW1 example of the Knight's 
Cross.
