for the Campaign in North Africa, against the 
Italians and the General Rommel's German 
Africa Corps (Deutsche Afrika Korps - DAK).
The medal was instituted in 1943.
The 1st Army clasp was awarded to those who 
served with the 1st Army between 8 Nov. 1942 
and 12 May 1943.
