ITALY: WW1 Commemorative Medal for the War
Invalids.
With clasp inscribed "Incapacitated in War, 1915-
1918"
Obverse: Head of a Roman soldier in helmet, with
the Fascist Fasces in the background.
Inscribed: "War for the Unification of Italy, 1915
1918". Signed by M. Pozzi.
Reverse: Naked mutilated men next to a Roman
altar.
Inscribed: "To the War Invalids for the Redemption
of the Homeland".
The medal was instituted in 1924 following the
respective suggestion of the Italian National War
Tuberculosis Association.
This is the type A of the medal, signed by M. Pozzi
and designed by A. Marco.
WW1 is considered the last episode of the wars for
the Unification of Italy as we know it today.
