FRANCE: Red Cross Medal, of the Association 
of the French Women, 1879.  
The Association of the French Women was 
established in 1879. 
Its aim was purely humanitarian (aiding the 
sick and wounded of the French Army). 
In 1940, the Association of French Women, 
the Union of the Women of France together 
with the French Society of Aiding the Wounded 
merged and created the French Red Cross. 
The medal is rare.
