This is the rarest type of the French WW2 
War Cross, the “London Type”, which is 
characterized by the lack of the “year of 
issue” on the reverse side.
These Crosses were issued by the French 
Committee of National Liberation – the 
provisional Government of Free France, that 
under General de Gaule continued fighting 
against the Nazis, from the UK, following the 
capitulation of France.
