France WWII Set of 6 Medals with Diploma to Sergeant of the 423rd Pioneer Regiment PoW at STALAG XA & STALAG XB

FRANCE: Set of 6 WW2 era medals glued on 
the diploma of the WW2 Commemorative 
Medal, to a Sergeant of the 423 Pioneer 
Regiment, who participated in the Battle
of France (1940), was captured by the 
German Forces and spent the rest of the War 
as Pow at the STALAG XA (in Schleswig) and 
at the notorious STALAG XB (in Sandbostel, 
Lower Saxony) a PoW Camp also known as 
"little Bergen Beslen" because of its horrible 
conditions and inhumane treatment of the 
Allied personnel. 
Between 1939 and 1945 several hundred 
thousands POWs of 55 nations passed 
through the STALAG XB camp and thousands 
of them (the range is estimated between 8.000 
to 50.000) died there of hunger, disease, or 
were killed by the guards.

bottom:

- WW2 Commemorative Medal.
