FRANCE: Copper Revolutionary Coin of 2 Sols - 1792.
Designed by A. Dupre.
"Coin of Confidence" struck following the "Radical Phase" of the
French Revolution (1792-1794) which replaced the Constitutional
Monarchy with the 1st French Republic.
On the obverse: "Liberty under the Law". Liberty sitting facing left,
with the inscription "4th Year of Liberty" (since the French Revolution
of 1789)
On the reverse: "Medal with Nominal Value of 2 Sols. Paris Mint"
(Literal translation).
Note: These coins were manufactured using machinery powered by
a steam engine developed by Mr. Watt.
