FRANCE:Order of Combatant’s Merit, Knight's
Cross. Silver and enameled example.
Signed by Muller.
The Order was instituted in 1953, and was
awarded to individuals who distinguished
themselves through the effort of providing
support to former combatants and victims
of war.
The award of the Knight’s Cross (which was
limited to only 250 Knight’s Crosses per year)
required that the recipients were at least 40
years of age with at least fifteen years of
service.
The Order was replaced in 1963 by the National
Order of Merit.
Due to its limited numbers of issue and to the
fact that it was issued for just 10 years, the
Cross is very rare.
