for the Campaign in North Africa, against the 
Italians and the General Rommel's German 
Africa Corps (Deutsche Afrika Korps - DAK).
The medal was instituted in 1943.
The 8th Army clasp was awarded to those 
who served with the 8th Army between 23 Oct. 
1942 and 12 May 1943 (2nd Battle of El Alamein, 
capitulation of the German forces in Africa).
