Greece: Royal Hellenic Air Force Cross - 1945.
The Cross was awarded to Flying Officers of the
Royal Hellenic Air Force (RHAF) for acts proving
professional - administrative ability as well as
exceptional leadership in war time but not
necessarily before the enemy.
The RHAF Merit Cross was instituted in 1945 by
King Paul I and it was awarded initially for WW2
related actions.
It was amended in 1953 in order to be awarded
for the Greek Civil War and the Korean War as
well.
The Cross is scarce, given the small size of the
RHAF and the fact that it was awarded only to
officers who exercised leadership.
