"Signum Laudis with Crown", Bronze Class.
On original war time ribbon with crossed swords, 
for combatants. 
Marked "Bronze" on the rim.
Issued by Kaiser Karl to officers, this medal 
replaced in 1917, the respective one of Kaiser 
Franz Joseph I.
The initial medal was established in 1886 and 
was until 1911 (when the silver class was 
instituted) the highest merit award of the Austro-
Hungarian Empire.
