The Royal Household medal was established
in 1889 by King Leopold II, in 3 types.
Ever since each subsequent King issued his
own medal and approved the necessary
amendments.
King Baudouin I established 3 different types
of the Royal Household Medal in 1953 (for the
Employees of the Royal Court, for the Foreign
Delegations at the Royal Court - both types in
3 classes and the Special Medal in 2 Classes).
The Royal Household medal of Baudouin I
remained in use until 1993.
