FRANCE: Bronze Cross for Voluntary Military
Services.
The Cross was instituted in 1934, in 3 classes
(bronze, silver, gold) for those who voluntarily
served at the rear.
The award was discontinued in 1957 (it was
substituted by the medal for military merit)
but it was reinstated in 1975 - this time as a
circular medal.
This is the rare 1st type of the cross (small
head on the obverse and ball type
suspender).
