FRANCE: Silver (silvered bronze) Cross for
Voluntary Military Services.
The Cross was instituted in 1934, in 3 classes
(bronze, silver, gold) for those who voluntarily
served at the rear.
The award was discontinued in 1957 (it was
substituted by the medal for military merit)
but it was reinstated in 1975 - this time as
a circular medal.
This is the 2nd type of the cross (large head
on the obverse), signed by Delannoy, maker
marked and hallmarked for bronze by the
Paris Mint.
The Silver Cross (2nd Class) is quite rare.
