FRANCE: Colonial medal with oriental style
clasp "Maroc".
This is the intermediate typeof the medal
(1913 - 1938), designed by George Lemaire
(signed on the obverse, with his initials on
the reverse side) and hallmarked ~1~ for
silver purity.
The clasp "Maroc" was issued to replace the
Morocco Campaign's Commemorative Medal
and was awarded between 1914 and 1925 for
peacekeeping operations.
The Colonial medal was established in 1893
and was awarded to military personnel who
operated in French protectorates and
colonies.
In total there are established 52 official and
63 unofficial bars for the colonial medal.
The award was replaced by the Overseas
Medal in 1962 .
