FRANCE: WW2 Cross of Volunteer Combatants.
This is the example with the "small head", for
the WW2 volunteers, dated 1939 - 1945, maker
marked and hallmarked for bronze by the Paris
Mint.
The Cross was instituted in 1935 and was
issued initially to French and foreign volunteers
combatants of the Great War - at a later stage
the issuance of the Cross was expanded to
cover the WW2 Volunteers and the Volunteers of
the Colonial Wars.
This guilt example was issued to officers.
The WW2 Volunteer Combatants Crosses are a
lot rarer than the respective WW1 ones.
