Albania - Communism era: Order of Skanderbeg, 
III class. 
The Order was instituted in 1945 and was named 
after the Byzantine hero Georgios Kastriotis -  
Skanderbeg (Gjergi Kastrioti (in Albanian) or 
Iskender Bey (in Turkish), 1405 -1468), the 
Albanian National Hero. 
It was awarded, in 3 classes, for Military and Civil 
merit.
This example is of the early quality type (1st type), 
by the East German maker PräWeMa (Präge 
Werkzeug Machinen) Markneukirchen. 
Despite being a former communist country,  
Albania issued medals and decorations of high 
quality and in very low numbers.
