BELGIUM: Commemorative medal for the
WW2 Deportees.
In its box of issue.
The medal was awarded to the military and
civilian personnel that were deported to
Germany and were subjected to force labor
during the WW2 German Occupation of
Belgium.
Signed by E. Brackenier, the medal presents
a Belgian worker being manhandled and
forced to walk toward a pointed direction by
a man in German uniform, with a swastika
armband on his left arm.
The medal is an unofficial award that was
instituted in the 1950s, most likely by the
Independence Front (Front de l’Independance)
a Belgian Resistance Group.
A rare medal.
