Belgium: WW2 Maritime Medal with Crossed
Anchors.
Obverse: the Belgian lion rampant.
Reverse: the Royal Cipher of King Leopold III.
The medal was established in 1941, by the Belgian
Government in Exile, which was based in London,
Great Britain.
It was awarded to seamen aboard Belgian War
Ships or vessels of the Merchant Navy for acts of
bravery either in front of the enemy or in life-
saving operations.
It was also awarded for a minimum of 2 years
service aboard war or merchant vessels under
Allied flags.
Given the small size of the WW2 Belgian Navy,
the medal is very rare.
