palms (one Belgian and one French) and golden (gilt) 
lion citations on the ribbon. 
The royal cypher of King Leopold III on the Belgian 
palms is of the rare 1st  type (type "LIIIL").
According to the 26th February 1919, Royal Belgian 
Decree:
A gold lion represents mention in the Order of the 
Day of the Division while a bronze palm represents 
mention in the Order of the Day of the Army.
A nice example of military history and an award for 
excessive gallantry before the enemy.
