Regiment, Frantisek Palacky).
Frantisek Palacky (1798-1876) was a Czech
historian and politician, the most influential
person of the Czech National Revival, called
"Father of the Nation".
The medal was established in 1948 and was
awarded to the surviving veterans of the
Regiment during the military celebrations on
the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the
formation of the Unit.
The Regiment was formed in Novonikolaevsk,
Russia, in Aug. 1918 as the 11th Czechoslovak
Rifle Regiment of Volunteers.
It got its honorary name after Fr. Palacky in
Nov. 1919. It took part in the operations
together with the rest of the Czechoslovak
Legions in Russia, as part of the 3rd
Czechoslovak Rifle Division.
The medal is scarce.
