FINLAND: Order of the Cross of Liberty, 
Bronze Medal, 1939, 2nd Class. 
The Order was established in 1918 during the 
War for the Independence of Finland. 
The number "1939" shows the year of the 
award. 
The Order of the Cross of Liberty is a premier 
Order of Finland and it was awarded (until 
1960) for merit during war time active service. 
This example was issued during the Winter 
War of 1939 against Russia. 
As the war only lasted from 30 Nov. 1939 
until 13 March 1940, the 1939 medals are 
quite rare.
