of General Dodds, for the 1st and 2nd French 
Colonial Campaigns in Dahomey (Benin), in 
1890 and 1892 respectively.
This is the 1st type of the medal.
On the obverse: The portrait of General Dodds.
On the reverse: The 4 main battles of the 
Campaign (Kotonou, Dogba, Kana, Abomey)
The medal was instituted in 1892 and was 
awarded to the 4000 soldiers and sailors of 
the French Expeditionary Corps under the 
command of Colonel Dodds.
