Struck in silver by renowned engraver Daniel 
Dubuis. 
Instituted in 1886, it was awarded to approximately 
2,000 military personnel serving under Admirals 
Pierre and Miot during the Madagascar campaign. 
A rare colonial-era French military decoration with 
significant historical importance.
