FRANCE: Original French commemorative medal 
for the 2nd Madagascar Campaign of 1895, struck 
in silver and signed by engraver O. Roty. 
Hallmarked by the Paris Mint and retaining its rare 
“1895” clasp, this medal was awarded to soldiers 
and sailors under General Duchêne who served 
during the Madagascar expedition of 1894–1896.
