FRANCE: Order of Military Merit, Officer's Cross,
in Gold (Silver Gilt).
Signed by Delannoy, maker marked by the Paris
Mint, hallmarked "1" for silver construction.
The Order was instituted in 1957, in 3 classes, to
reward peacetime voluntary activities of
reservists with critical impact to the national
defense.
It was discontinued in 1963 being replaced by
the National Order of Merit.
Due to its limited number of issue and to the
fact that it was issued for just 6 years, the
Cross is rare in all its classes.
