France Overseas Medal with Bars Centrafrique Zaire & Tchad

FRANCE: Overseas Commemorative Medal, 
with 3 clasps:
-  "Tchad" (created in 1979): for the Colonial 
conflict that led to the Independence of Chad 
(1960) and until Sep. 2014. 
- "Zaire" (created in 1979) : for operations 
from Mai 1979 to Jul. 1990
- "Central Africa" (created in 1999): operations 
from Sep.1979 to Jul. 1981, from May 1996 to 
Feb. 1997, from 20 Jun 1997 to 15 Apr. 1998 
and since Dec. 2002.
The Colonial medal was established in 1893.  
The Overseas Medal replaced the Colonial 
medal in 1962. 
It is awarded to military personnel who 
operated overseas, usually in the former 
French colonies and protectorates. The areas 
of service are indicated by a gilt campaign 
clasp. Currently there are 13 such clasps 
established.
