France WWI UFF Red Cross Medal of the Union of the Women of France 1914 1918 Numbered

FRANCE: Red Cross Medal, of the Union of the 
Women of France (UFF). 
Numbered 8168, with clasp “French Red Cross” 
on the top of the ribbon.
The UFF  was established in 1881 by Mrs. 
Koechlin-Schwart. Its aim was purely humanita-
rian (aiding the wounded combatants in war time 
and providing support to public agencies in time 
of national catastrophe or need). 
In 1940, the UFF together with the French Society 
of Aiding the Wounded and the Association of 
French Ladies merged and created 
the French Red Cross.
