Imperial Germany - Prussia: Duppel Assault
Cross, awarded during the 1864 War against
Denmark over Schleswig Holstein.
The medal was awarded for participation in
the respective battle (18 Apr 1864) where the
Prussian assault on the Duppel fortress
resulted to a major victory, 4000 Danish
casualties (1 General, 2 Colonels and 100
officers among them), while the Prussian
Army managed to capture at least 3000
Danish PoWs and 83 cannons.
The Cross was instituted in 1864 by King
Wilhelm.
It was designed by the Prussian court
medalist Friedrich Wilhelm Kullrich..
