Golden Jubilee (50th Marriage Anniversary) of
Grand Duke Carl Alexander and his wife Sofie,
Princess of the Netherlands & Grand Duchess
of Saxe Weimar Eisenach.
On ribbon for female recipients.
On the obverse: Signed by W. Uhlmann Sc. G.
Loos Dir. With the portraits of the Grand Duke
and Duchess.
On the reverse: Signed by G. Loos. With the
initials CAS (Carl Alexander, Sofie) and the
years 1842, 1892.
The medal was instituted in 4 classes (gold,
gold - silver gilt, silver and bronze) in 1892.
It was issued to those that participated in the
celebration of the Golden Jubilee in Weimar.
The golden medals (25 pieces) were awarded
exclusively to the Princes and Princesses.
The other classes were awarded according to
the rank to the other guests, the court, officials,
commanding officers and non commissioned
officers as well as the servants.
The medals were made in the Imperial Mint, in
Berlin, by Von Ostermann (previously named
G. Loos) and W. Uhlmann.
A very rare medal.
