Germany: WW1 Hindenburg Cross for Combatants 
awarded to veterans of the First World War (1914–
1918) who served on the front lines. 
This combatant version features crossed swords, 
denoting wartime service under fire.

Backmarked R.V. 83 Pforzheim — indicating 
production by Reichsverband Pforzheim (Imperial 
Association Pforzheim), one of the officially 
sanctioned manufacturers of the period.
A classic WW1 German award and a staple for any 
military history or medal collection.
The Hindenburg Cross was established by 
Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg,  President 
of the Third Reich, in 1934, and was awarded
to the participants of the WW1 and in case they 
had lost their lives to 
their Parents or Widows.
A total 8,041,414 of medals were awarded as 
follows:
