Ges. Gesch. (German mark for Registered Design),
dated 29/2/1932 (Feb. 29, 1932 - entry date),
inscribed IV. MI. 945 (the military unit of the
recipient).
In silvered nickel silver marked "A".

The badge was introduced in Nov. 1933 by Franz
Seldte, Founder of The Steel Helmet League and
was awarded retroactively.
"The Steel Helmet" League of Front-Line
Soldiers was a German WW1 veteran's
organization existing from 1918 to 1935. It was
part of the "Black Reichswehr" and in the late
days of the Weimar Republic operated as the
paramilitary wing of the monarchist German
National People's Party (DNVP).
The badge and The Steel Helmet League were
banned in 1935.
