Issued for "Merit in front of the Enemy".
Silver example, of the initial period of WW1.
The medal was instituted by Prince Günther
in 1914, based on the respective medals
created by Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt in 1870
and Schwarzburg-Sondershausen in 1871 for
the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.
Note that the Principalities of Rudolstadt and
Sondershausen were unified in 1909.
A very rare medal as the total population of
the Principalities was below 200.000 people.
