Germany WWI Wurttemberg Charlotte Cross 1916 Boxed by the Stuttgart Mint

Imperial Germany - Wurttemberg: WW1 Charlotte 
Cross, 1916. 
In its original box of issue, with the Coat of Arms 
of Wurttemberg on the lid and the stamp of the 
Royal Mint of Stuttgart on the interior of the lid.
The Cross was instituted by King Wilhelm II, in 
1916, in honor of Queen Charlotte (born Princess 
of Schaumburg-Lippe). 
It was awarded for humanitarian services to the 
sick and the wounded, both at the front and at 
the rear. 
The Cross is the equivalent of the Red Cross 
decoration for Wurttemberg.
