Greece: Silver Cross for Military Valor, 2nd Class.
The Order was instituted in 1913 right after the
end of the Balkan Wars in 3 Classes.
It was awarded for Μilitary Valor during the Balkan
Wars, WW1 and during the Disastrous Campaign
in Asia Minor (1922).
It was discontinued in 1923 and it was reinstituted
in 1940 with the addition of the "1940" clasp on the
ribbon.
The medal depicts St. Georgios (George) slaying
the Dragon and is inscribed "ΑΞΙΑ" (Valor) on the
reverse.
It is the highest military merit of Greece (it is still
in use without the crown) and it ranks as an Order.
