Greece: Miniature of the WW1 War Cross, 1916-
1917, 3rd class.
The medal was instituted by decree of the
Revolutionary Government in 1916 and was
issued for bravery in the field during WW1, the
expedition in Soviet Russia (Ukraine - 1920)
and the expedition in Asia Minor (1920 - 1922).
On the obverse with the Ancient Spartan
quote "Η ΤΑΝ Η ΕΠΙ ΤΑΣ" (Return victorious
with your shield or return dead
on it) and "ΕΛΛΑΣ" (Hellas - Greece), 1916 -
1917 on the reverse.
The medal, just like all Greek medals, is scarce -
especially as miniature.
