The medal was instituted in 1939 and was
awarded to selected military and civilians, to
holders of the Order of Michael the Brave
and the Medal of Military Virtue and to the
staff of the Ministry of National Defense.
The additional "Pro Patria" clasp was
awarded for significant contribution to the
Army Equipment Fund.170
