Serbia: Medal for Civil Merit, Gold Class (I Class),
in bronze gilt.
The medal was established in 1902, in 2 classes
(gold and silver) to
be awarded to public servants for long & faithful
service to the Serbian Royal Household or
Government, and later, for service to the Allied
military forces.
Despite being created by King Alexander I
Obrenovic, the medal continued to be awarded
under the Karageorgevic dynasty.
The medal was initially manufactured in Austria
and later on in Serbia, France and Switzerland.
This is an early Austrian made unmarked example.
