South Vietnam Wound Medal 1950 French Type

South Vietnam: Wound Medal.
The medal was established in 1950, to be awarded 
to military personnel killed or wounded in combat. 
Recipients were almost entirely Vietnamese.
This is an early French made quality example not 
the common example that was awarded after the 
US intervention in Vietnam.
The medal became obsolete in 1975 following the 
fall of South Vietnam.
A nice example of a scarce military decoration of 
a country that no longer exists.
