 (widely known as Turkish Star) medal - badge. 
This medal was awarded to Turkish and German- 
Austrian soldiers who took part in the operations 
against the Allied expeditionary forces who 
attempted unsuccessfully to force the Turkish 
fortifications of the Dardanelles straits by landing 
on the Gallipoli peninsula. 
This is a German made enameled example of the 
medal, maker marked Friedrich Sedlatzek, Berlin 
(rare maker) on the needle on the reverse side.
