UN Korean War Commemorative Medal 1950 1953 Dutch Type Boxed

United Nations: Dutch version of the United 
Nations Commemorative Medal for the 
participation in the Operations during the 
Korean War, under the UN mandate. 
Issued to Dutch Military personnel "For 
Services Defending the Principles of the 
United Nations Charter“.
In its box of issue.
The Medal was established by the UN in 1950 
and it was awarded to the members of the 
multi-national forces who participated in the 
Korean War (27 June 1950 and 27 July 1954), 
in different form of the reverse side for each 
participating Nation. 
Especially for the Dutch forces the service 
period for the award had been extended until 
1 Jan. 1955. 
A total of only 3972 Dutch soldiers and 1360 
sailors of the Royal Netherlands Navy served 
in Korea during the War, hence the medal is 
very hard to find.
