Medal, with 3 Clasps (Somme Offensive, Ypres-
Lys, Defensive Sector). 
A rare combination of clasps. 
Official type 2 (Laslo Classification), as issued to 
the 27th and the 30th Division of the US Army.
The bars were awarded as follows:
- Somme-Offensive (8 August to 11 November 
1918, aprox. 54.000 issued). 
The clasp is very rare.
- Ypres-Lys (19 August to 11 November 1918, 
aprox. 108.000 issued).
The clasp is rare.
- Defensive Sector (awarded to Soldiers or 
Sailors who had fought in a battle which was not 
one of the battles listed as a Battle Clasp, aprox. 
1.005.500 issued).
The medal was designed by James Earl Fraser.
