International Order: Royal Military Order of Our
Lady of Mercy, Commander's Cross Set.
In its box of issue with the respective miniature
and lapel pin.
By maker Johnson in Rome.
The Order was established in 1218 by James I
King of Aragon in Spain in order to decorate the
Crusaders.
It was revived at the late 19th century - early 20th
as the "Ordine della Mercede" with members from
the Catholic Countries such as Italy, Spain and
Portugal (AKA Mercedarians).
No solid information is available regarding the
current status of the Order, but allegedly it has
less than 600 active members.
This Commander's Cross is an Italian made early
example of superb quality.
