Albania - Communism era: Order For Distinguished 
Defense Service, 3rd Class.
The Order was instituted sometime after 1968, in 
3 Classes and 1 medal.
It was awarded to officers, warrant officers, and 
active duty soldiers, students of the military 
school, as well as reservists, police, military 
units and detachments of the Armed Forces for 
distinctive merit and distinguished effectiveness 
related to the enhancement of the defense 
capabilities of the nation.
Despite being a former communist country,  
Albania issued medals and decorations of high 
quality and in very low numbers.
