1 German) on watch duty.
The German South Army was formed in Breslau,
on Jan. 1915 and served exclusively on the
Eastern Front.
It was placed initially under the command of
Infantry General von Linsingen and since Jul.
1915 of Infantry General Graf von Bothmer.
During 1915 the German South Army operated
closely with the 2nd and 3rd KuK Armies in both
offensive and defensive operations on the
Carpathian Mountains against the Russian Army.
