1916, with the emblem (coat of arms) of the
Austrohungarian Empire (double headed Eagle
with single crown) at the outbreak of WW1.
Inscribed: "Kriegspatenschaft 1916".
The "Kriegspatenschaft" was a charity run by
Austrian ladies of the "upper society". It was
founded early in the war and was focused on
providing care for needy newborn babies and
their mothers as the babies symbolized the new
life in times of death.
