General Arthur Arz von Straussenburg
commanded the VI Army Corps during the period
7 Sep. 1914 - 15 Aug. 1916.
Under his command the VI Army Corps took part,
with great success, in the battles of Limanowa-
Lapanow, Gorlice-Tarnow, Grodek-Magierow and
Brest-Litowsk as well as in the Romanian
Campaign.
In the late stages of WW1 General Arz was
promoted to the rank of Colonel General (26 Feb.
1918) and assumed the office of Chief of the
General Staff for the KuK Armed Forces - he also
raised to the nobility having received the title of
Baron early the same year.
