The 5th Army was formed in 1914 and was
put under the command of General Liborius
Ritter von Frank.
Between Aug. and Dec. 1914, it participated
in the Serbian Campaign and suffered such
enormous casualties that it was disbanded
on 27 Dec. 1914.
It was reestablished in May 1915 on the Italian
Front, where it remained active until the end
of the War. It was officially named "Isonzo
Army" in 1917.
