the portrait of Kaiser Karl I.

Archduke Karl Franz Joseph was crowned Kaiser
Karl I of Austria and King of Hungary in November
1916 following the death of his grand-uncle, Kaiser
Franz Joseph.
These pins were issued for fund raising purposes
in order to support the war effort.
They are rarer that the respective ones of Kaiser
Franz Joseph as they remained in use for just 2
years (1917-1918) and were zinc made due to
bronze being reserved for the war needs.
